could not be otherwise. Was to open the package and meet with the first copies of the latest novel by Susana Vallejo and homework. Could not be otherwise. The brand always sponsor of this blog has a new novel in George Street and the left. And in little more than a day reading novels, swallowed and enjoyed in each of its pages.
A dream Fran makes a return to The Tree House, where he spent the summers of his youth and is now about to be demolished to make way for a new highway. They remember and recover the spirit of that last summer and get close the circle opened the day and distant with his family found a map that would lead to great treasure of hopscotch.
This novel confirms Susana Vallejo as one of the best writers of juvenile literature in this country as it is only and solely to the story that explains how this novel becomes an experience so pleasant. Because we recognize that the story we already know Susana explains. We have seen and read thousands of times: an adult who returns to the places of their childhood or adolescence to close a chapter, to say goodbye and remember the moment when everything changed (I comes to mind in particular the novel by Stephen King The body and that mythical film adaptation was Count me), but Susan's voice that history is again being fresh and new: it smells like truth. And all by a retail boom and loving. By focusing so shrewd in describing the subtle odors that accompany the magical summer nights seventeen.
The plot is simple and has a mystery at least used to drive all the memory and the novel. Of course, the mystery is a dream we've all had in the summer (and some have tried to bring to reality): find a treasure (and I Goonies come to mind). Through this excuse Susana constructed a novel full of vivid characters. Eternalized threads of this family are true. Anyone who like me have grown up amid a family cries, fights for truth and joke discuss why it is better and organizes paella cooking contests nonsense, typical of those families that "they love and hate at the same time." For this Susana uses four strokes well given, to give a very clear and distinct voice to each character with their cuttings and their characteristics. The characters smack of truth.
The explicit theme of the novel, the passage from adolescence to early maturity is treated in an elegant and dignified. In this story, no drama, no hard times, there is indifference, but without falling into melodrama or exaggeration in which tends to run part of the realistic young adult novel. Susan manages to dodge this dangerous topic of this literature to present this step as traumatic and always involves drugs, violence and, if possible, a couple of deaths. This step is someone normal. With his jokes, his follies, insecurities and her broken heart. Little more ... and nothing less.
And despite the change log Susana Vallejo returns to the issues raised in his wonderful tetralogy of Porta Coeli and Switch in the network : memory, rebirth, journey, magic, adventure and wonder in everyday life. And all with the spirit and calm mood of the best memories. Of when the summers were endless and eternal sunny afternoons.
