In the latest issue of Print magazine, the Bookseller Cuesta, published a comment I made about Ghostgirl Tonya Hurley.
was a while ago and for some mysterious reason, I thought I'd share here and it does not. Or I did and gone. (It will be because of some girl ghost?). Well, then I share it now, heh.
Ghostgirl is a book by American author Tonya Hurley, who has penetrated the American youth audience, becoming a bestseller New York Times and is now finding its little hole among Hispanic adolescents.
The novel has a very striking cover, simulating a coffin and warns that it is a text with Gothic overtones. In the back is a phrase that captures the attention of the adolescent: Ever you felt invisible? And we all feel invisible at times during those years, beautiful and terrible for which we are not adults, but definitely ... we're not children.
A zero and it feels like Charlotte Usher in high school, although he spent all summer trying to imitate Petula and her friends: the most popular girls school. However, a ray of sunshine through the gray sky of Charlotte's life, gets to sit next to Damen, the prettiest girl in school and who, "coincidentally" is the petulant Petula's boyfriend. (That doom!)
But happiness will not last long at Charlotte because moments after being closer than ever to the gorgeous Damen, chokes on a sweet gum and dies . Yes, likewise. Quick and simple. Well, not so simple, because even dead escaped from high school.
Charlotte will have to attend classes at Muertología, during which he must learn to stop being a troublesome ghost and become a dead responsible. A kind of " and stop being a ghost in ten days." The Ghostgirl history seems to be more than a comic novel, but as we progress in reading, we realize that poses a very serious question : How far are you willing to go to be popular in your school? Would you do what others want but these are not your desires? For many it is clear that guys who do "anything " for being the most popular are those who feel most unhappy. As unhappy as those who leave abuse and isolate the group. The ghost girl Tonya Hurley suggests that Neither extreme is good.

Note: "Burning" is a term used by young Dominicans and that means failing an exam.
