"Resurrection" Tobery
Resurrection, Lea Tobery, Ediciones B, 2011
After reading that was the best book I've read so far this year (and will undoubtedly be one of the best when it finished 2011), that Knockemstiff who posted the great books of Silence, I needed something light that could be free of literary rush he had in his body. So caught Resurrection of the mysterious author named Lea Tobery.
And, man, yeah, I wanted something light, but not to the point of being insubstantial and ethereal. It's been a couple of weeks and, frankly, I do a little uphill this review because I do not remember almost anything of this novel. Only a continuous feeling of dissatisfaction and fraud.
Emma dies. And die they go to an orange world where she meets a boy who falls in love. But Emma was not dead and it ended up coming back. And leaving behind the boy and becomes obsessed and wants to contact him. And it uses mediums, spiritualists, etc. And always have the support of her friends. Until this trip looking for it seemed the love of his life ends in a surprising way. And yes, it changes his world.
, not really expecting much from this novel. A little entertainment that will help me pass the time between readings and little else. And I chose Resurrection because she looked short, to the point, a different point (although portadística follow the trail of one eye sees better than two) and would be read in one sitting. And so it proved. The downside is that it has been a wasted sitting.
Let's see, the starting point of the novel is interesting. The idea of \u200b\u200bapparent death, the leap to another world, the love and then to regain that love. I liked some of the aspects characterizing the protagonist (a sense of humor, not moralistic and puritanical and hypocritical sexual theme, etc..) And some of the flashes or ideas that were pointing in the novel (the other world and discussed, the subject of mediums, phone calls, the family mystery, etc.), but ...
... but all that is left in single notes. The entire novel is on a strict superficiality. Do not delve into the issues noted. The worst thing is that the roads are interesting. But it shows a little, and another thing butterfly. The sins of some ambitious novel, and this increasingly appears to be more common, missing pages. It seems that you are leaving a generation of novels in which what prevails is the action because yes, the senseless short chapters, the description brief and poorly crafted, products made only with the intention to cause "hook." There is no depth in the characters, there is a voice that distinguishes them individually (clear case on the subject of friends, which were mixed and confused and did not know when to speak one or the other), and are mere stereotypes without much personality. The boy in the story is a being of perfection that gives some grimilla. Open frames that do not close. It seems to be a mere notes into a novel, a scheme to develop later.
And all to end as above. Rushed, poorly explained and not credible. Let's say that the rational explanation to the phenomenon I truly believe it. Is too fast. Same as above. Require further development. Missing body. Lack novel. And it's a
shame because in its pages a good story beats. The pity is that it has not been able to see and everything has been reduced to a novel effort that provides a moment of entertainment.
